Service

Trent Hills Canadian Tire is a full service automotive repair operation. This means we do it all, from complicated mechanical repairs to regular maintenance.

Our clients are provided with simple, clearly presented basic information which creates an atmosphere of mutual respect and openness. This allows them to make informed decisions based on all the facts. Each client has unique circumstances and we work with each of them to come up with a solution that is the best for them at that time.

Our clients know from experience that our service is based upon accuracy, honesty, quality and service that goes far beyond price. There may be lower prices but you will never experience any higher level of integrity and concern which makes it very easy for us to stand behind our work.

Our labour rate is one of the lowest in our area at $69.95 per hour. We have the advantage of our own Canadian Tire parts inventory which we offer as an option along side the appropriate manufacturer’s factory parts line or aftermarket.

We will provide you with a written quotation for any recommended services and replacement parts. No job will ever begin without our client’s authorization after being fully informed.

Ontario’s Drive Clean Program

Air quality is something that we all play a part in. Emissions from vehicles is one of the major causes of smog. You can do your part by ensuring you’re “driving clean”.

How the Drive Clean Program Works

Provincially legislated emission testing now begins with 5 year old vehicles. Your initial Drive Clean test will cost $35.00 + GST. Should it fail, you can have your vehicle re-tested twice at $17.50 + GST. The re-test must be done at the drive clean facility that did the original test. The creation, use or distribution of fraudulent Drive Clean passes is now an offence under the Environmental Protection Act. For more information, contact the Drive Clean Centre at 1-888-758-2999 or visit their website at www.driveclean.com.

Drive clean encourages owners to maintain and repair their vehicles to reduce smog-causing emissions. A well-maintained vehicle uses less gas and operates more efficiently to benefit our environment.

The Repair Cost Limit (RCL) recognizes that some owners cannot afford to fully replace or repair vehicles that do not meet emission standards. RCL lets owners of light-duty vehicles that do not meet emissions standards to obtain a conditional pass. Light-duty includes cars, pickup trucks, vans and sports utility vehicles. The conditional pass allows owners to renew their registration without having vehicles fully repaired by the time of renewal. The RCL ensures that some repairs are made to reduce emissions.

The RCL puts a maximum of $450 on what you must spend on emission-related repairs at a Drive Clean Facility to qualify for a conditional pass. You may obtain a conditional pass every 2 years at registration renewal but you will have to qualify for the RCL each time first. The conditional pass cannot be used to licence a resale vehicle for the road.

How does the RCL work? First you must find out exactally what repairs need to be done after your vehicle fails an emission test. Have a full Drive Clean diagnostic at an accredited Drive Clean test or repair facility to help pinpoint the emission problem. Obtain a cost estimate for the recommended repairs. The cost of the diagnostic will count towards the RCL.
